Many are first-generation college students, single parents, underrepresented in their fields. Access to education and funding are helping them build healthcare careers.

When Serenity Mallon was growing up, money was tight. But higher education was non-negotiable for this Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine student.

Isabel Almodovar is a single mother of two following the death of their father. She’s studying to be a nurse at Chamberlain University to show her daughters the power of persistence.

Jacqueline DeMarco saw the care that her mother provided for her brother who faced brain damage and mental illness. It inspired her to attend American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine.

These are just three of the most recent recipients of the Empower Scholarship, awarded for both merit and need.

The 2024 spring scholarship cycle continues the success of the Empower Scholarship Fund with 106 scholarships offered totaling more than $208,500, and more than 7,400 student applications submitted. 50% of recipients identified as first-generation college students. Empower Scholarship Fund's mission remains integral to helping students complete their education and fulfill students dreams and passions to make a positive impact on the world.
